Dr. S. M. Khaled Hossain is an accomplished academic, researcher, and academic leader specializing in Accounting. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Program Director of MBA Programs at the Army Institute of Business Administration (AIBA), an affiliated institute of the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), located in Savar Cantonment, Dhaka. Dr. Hossain has more than a decade of full-time teaching experience and has worked with a range of universities, including City University, Daffodil International University, Manarat International University, Eastern University, and National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (NITER)—a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka. The major courses taught by him include Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting, Research Methodology, Project Management, Microeconomics etc. Dr. Hossain holds a PhD in Accounting from Jagannath University, where his doctoral research focused on the impact of corporate governance mechanisms and risks on firm value in emerging economies. He achieved first position in both his MBA and BBA programs at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU), and was awarded the prestigious Chancellor’s Gold Medal in recognition of his academic excellence. As a committed scholar, Dr. Hossain has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications, many of which have been published in highly indexed (Scopus, WoS, ABDC) journals by renowned publishers such as Elsevier, Emerald, Sage, and Inderscience. He has also authored two academic books and presented multiple papers at international conferences. His research interests include corporate governance, corporate risk, ESG reporting, sustainability accounting, and corporate disclosure practices, with a strong focus on developing and emerging markets. His Google Scholar citations exceed 570, and he was ranked among the Top 10% Scientists in Bangladesh by the AD Scientific Index (2025). He also received the 2nd Best Paper Award at the AVLOKAN International Research Summit, organized by JAIN University, India. Dr. Hossain is also actively involved in the academic community, serving as an Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, and Reviewer for more than 15 international journals including PSU Research Review (Emerald Publishing), Corporate Governance (Emerald Publishing), Global Business Review (Sage Publishing), Sage Open, International Journal of Managerial and Financial Accounting (Inderscience Publishers) etc. Beyond research, Dr. Hossain has demonstrated strong academic leadership through his extensive contributions to curriculum design, program coordination, and institutional development initiatives. With a proven track record of supervising over 220 internship and thesis students, he has also played a pivotal role in contributing to long-term planning initiatives, and mentoring students through co-curricular platforms such as research and development clubs. His administrative engagements reflect a strong commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and student development. Dr. Hossain maintains strong connections with both academic and professional communities through his active engagement in national and international academic networks. He is a member of the UNCTAD Virtual Institute (Switzerland), ISDS Society (Japan), Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA), reflecting his alignment with global research and policy platforms. He is also the Founder Member of the Bangladesh Business Research Foundation (BBRF) and Center for Global Research & Innovations (CGRI) dedicated to promoting applied research, academic–industry collaboration, and policy advocacy in the Bangladeshi context. Through these platforms, Dr. Hossain has developed extensive industry linkages and contributed to capacity-building initiatives. As part of his global academic outreach, Dr. Hossain has actively engaged in delivering expert talks, participating in international events, and fostering cross-border academic collaborations. He has delivered expert sessions and academic lectures at various international platforms, including those hosted by JAIN University (India), Parul University (India), Mirwais Neeka University (Afghanistan), and the 7th Edition of the Advanced Materials Science World Congress (UK). He has participated in over 40 national and international research workshops and seminars, and has frequently served as a judge and resource person in numerous academic events, case competitions, and conferences. Dr. Hossain’s collaborative efforts reflect a sustained commitment to bridging the gap between research, education, and industry across borders. Through his academic journey, Dr. Hossain has consistently demonstrated dedication to research excellence, collaborative knowledge creation, and the development of the next generation of accounting and business professionals, both in Bangladesh and beyond.
